Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

NewVolt Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ABN 81 632 547 392) and its related companies (NewVolt, we, us) are developing shared-use fast-charging hubs for electric trucks in Australia, starting with Stage 1 of the NewVolt Network in Melbourne.

This policy explains how we collect, use, hold and disclose personal information. It covers anyone who contacts us, visits our website, attends our events, takes part in our fleet programmes, or works with us as a supplier or partner.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Stage 1 of the NewVolt Network is co-funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), and our funding agreement with ARENA also requires us to comply with the Privacy Act.

We do not yet operate charging hubs, customer apps or billing systems. We will update this policy before they go live.

2. What we collect and why

We collect only what we need for each activity below. Most of the people we deal with represent businesses, so much of what we hold is business contact information.

We do not ask for sensitive information, such as health details, unless it is needed and you agree. For example, dietary or accessibility needs for an event.

3. How we collect and hold information

We usually collect personal information directly from you: through our website form, by email or phone, at meetings and events, and through forms you complete for our fleet programmes.

Sometimes we collect it from others. Examples include event platforms such as Luma, and public sources such as business websites and LinkedIn. We use public sources to contact people in government and industry about our work and events.

We hold information electronically in secure, cloud-based business systems, including our website platform, email and document storage.

Website and cookies. Our website uses a small number of functional cookies, for example to remember that you closed our announcement banner. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to show us how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed and time spent. Google processes this information in the United States. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on. Our website host may also log technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and secure. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Dealing with us anonymously. You can browse our website and ask general questions without telling us who you are. We need your details to respond to you personally, register you for events or include your business in a fleet programme.

4. Who we share information with

We never sell personal information. We share it only in these cases:

5. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. Our website platform (Webflow), website analytics provider (Google Analytics) and event registration platform (Luma) are based in the United States. Our email and document storage providers may also hold data in the United States or Australia.

We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas providers protect personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Marketing, decisions, security and retention

Direct marketing. We may send you news about the NewVolt Network, our events and fleet programmes if you have asked for it or would reasonably expect it from your dealings with us. Every message tells you how to opt out, or you can email hello@newvolt.com.au. We will stop within a reasonable time.

Automated decisions. We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you without a person involved. Decisions on Truck Transition Fund allocation are made by our team; financial models may inform them.

Security. We protect personal information with password-protected business systems, secure log-ins and restricted staff access. Only people who need the information for their work can see it.

Data breaches. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Where the breach relates to the ARENA-funded project, we will also notify ARENA.

Retention. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or longer where the law or our funding agreement requires (for example, project records kept for audit). We then securely delete or de-identify it.

7. Access, correction, complaints and contact

Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email hello@newvolt.com.au. We will respond within 30 days and will not charge you for making a request. If we refuse, we will explain why in writing.

Complaints. If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@newvolt.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy. We will update this policy as our operations change, including before our first charging hubs open. The latest version will always be on our website. Next scheduled review: May 2027.
