NewVolt Appoints Industry Veteran Bo Christensen as Head of Fleet Transition

NewVolt, the company developing Australia's first national fast-charging network for electric trucks, today announced the appointment of Bo Christensen as Head of Fleet Transition. Christensen brings over 13 years of sustainability and fleet transformation leadership from Australia's largest logistics operators, including senior roles at Toll Group and Linfox.

In his new role, Christensen will lead NewVolt's fleet transition function, engaging with fleets and shippers to drive the transition from pilot projects to commercial-scale electric truck deployments. His appointment comes at a critical time as Australia's freight industry faces cost pressures alongside which make the challenge to maintain a competitive edge critical. The adoption of electric trucks has the potential to provide that competitive edge and NewVolt is positioning itself to support customers on that journey.

Christensen’s appointment comes as NewVolt gets ready to open the first of its Melbourne fast charging sites later this year.

"Bo's deep operational expertise within large-scale commercial fleets makes him the ideal person to help our clients transition to electric trucks profitably," said Anthony Headlam, CEO and Co-Founder of NewVolt. "He understands the real-world challenges fleet operators face and recognises that the transition to electric trucks requires both a business case that makes sense and a change management plan to make it happen smoothly. That practical knowledge is invaluable as we help our customers navigate which truck is best for the job, the scheduling and charging plan for the trucks as well as driver training. Ultimately this is about total cost of ownership optimisation."

Christensen's experience spans sustainability strategy, energy innovation, and operational transformation at Toll Group and Linfox, where he championed innovative approaches to fleet emissions reduction whilst maintaining operational efficiency and profitability. This dual focus on innovation and commercial viability aligns directly with NewVolt's approach: making electric trucks the lowest-cost option for Australian freight operators.

"The transition to electric trucks isn't just about swapping powertrains—it's about reimagining fleet operations from the ground up," said Christensen. "I am excited to be joining NewVolt who not only have a clear plan to help the industry transition but a team that cares deeply about the problem and their customers. I'm excited to help Australian fleets make this transition successfully and profitably."

A key priority for Christensen will be leading the implementation of NewVolt's trial programme for fleets, designed to make it easier for operators to try electric trucks before committing to full-scale adoption. The program removes the uncertainty from electrification by allowing fleets to validate performance, understand operational changes, and build driver confidence in real-world conditions before making capital investments. The program will be launched in Q2 this year ahead of the opening of NewVolt’s first three fast charging three hubs in Melbourne.
